Obama will win because the convergence of hand wringing members of the Republican party, the uninformed and the dupes that don't realize heavy lifting is hard work. People today want fast simple sloganized effortless solutions that make them feel like they are doing something when they are not.

Well, now that Huckabee is no longer a threat I suppose Rick needed a new person of faith to trash. Seriously Rick, this rabid anti religious hostility of yours needs to check itself. Most of what you cite is standard biblical teaching or historical fact even if you may not like the way he says it.

STILL AT RISK: THE SHOCKING IGNORANCE OF OUR YOUNG
Personally I think education is a victim of it's past success. There was a time when an education was a ticket out of poverty. Now, even the American poor are rich by world standards and can maintain a acceptable subsistence lifestyle with minimum or no effort.
Next time you beg you kid to help you with your computer or have them explain to you how to use your cell phone, be sure to tell him how uneducated he is because he does not know who Senator Joseph McCarthy is, especially when much of the accepted liberal dogma taught about McCarthy is so wrong.

It my imagination or do half the entries at this blog trash different factions of the Republican party and/or conservatives. I miss the old RWNH where I could go and see the left taken to task.
The larger point is that Obama is sympathetic to terrorists’ perspectives which are now obvious in his association with Dorhn and Aykers of unrepentant Weatherman fame. I loved the Obama campaign response about him being 8 years old at the time. Evidently violence, lawlessness and murder don’t count if it was before his time. If he had been born a few years later Osama Bin Laden could have been one of his buds too.

WE'RE GOING TO NEED THE PATIENCE OF JOB
This makes the case for the Ann Coulter approach. At least if a we get a dem elected the Republicans will fight it. If we elect McCain the republicans will feel obligated to fall in line and not embarrass their president. Much like some of them are demanding us conservatives to do now.
I gave up on our future in 2006 with the runaway spending and republican mis-behavior. It was obvious then things needed to go to hell in a handbasket before they would get better.

Is it pandering when you are championing your own beliefs and they happen to align with the beliefs of those on the "religious right"? Pandering (as I understand it) would be hiding your own beliefs and telling people what they want to hear. Pandering is what McCain does when speaking before real conservatives.
Pandering is what Huckabee would be doing if he shut up and towed the moderate republican line.
I don't care for either candidat but Huck is not pandering in the example cited.

OBAMA'S SIREN CALL BEWITCHES THE MASSES
No democrat is going to touch him and McCain will tip toe around him like he is a land mine. Any open attempt to bring him down will get the attacker branded as a racist. The remaining candidates are terrified of the label and will conduct themselves accordingly.
Obama can eloquently recite a prepared speech but during the debates (from what I have seen) he usually stutters and stumbles over his answers or sits quietly allowing the other candidates do all the talking. What was the last debate, 90% Hillary and 10% Obama?
He seems likable enough but I have to chuckle at his followers.

THE LONG MARCH BEGINS FOR CONSERVATIVES
McCain treats most all conservatives like most conservatives treat social conservatives. And everyone wondered why social cons were getting frustrated and angry just a month ago. Welcome to our world.
By the time moderates discover the damage they have done, (assuming McCain wins) it will be too late. McCain will destroy party credibility on a range of issues getting the Republican party tossed out of power for years.

Voting democratic to "teach America a lession" is dumber then voting democratic because your a socialist coolaid drinker. Though I wish it weren't so, I personally expect Hillary to be our next president. Too many cry baby so-called conservative's seeking platform purity have been alienated but the fumble-footed Republican party and are getting politically suicidal.
All you cry baby conservatives need to butch up and do the right thing. Then if the worst is realized at least you can say you did your part. If a die hard social con like me can stand behind any of the candidates as badly as my ilk gets treated these days surely the rest of you can.

Transplanted Texan - That's the thing. It doesn't mean anything specific. It's a vacuous platitude for a captive audience. You may as well try to determine what - for the good of all Americans - means. Which is probably the best secular translation, and a translation which would have served Huckabee a lot better in this age of religious paranoia.
retire05 – While I was raised Baptist I spent many a Sunday at Catholic mass with my Grandma, aunts and uncles. Yes I understand it’s not idol worship but rather an appeal for intersession. Not a concept I buy into but I can understand why people differ on what it is. People that talk like that are like the little old church lady that said – I use the King James version of the bible because if English was good enough for our lord it’s good enough for me. Ignorance isn’t a sin but it is the human condition.
I find it fascinating how many are buying into the Christian = Taliban equivalency, especially on the right. All of a sudden these harmless Christians that have been a large part of the greatness that is America are now dangerous religious fanatics as well. I am willing to bet that as a Catholic, having a bunch of Protestants think you are an idol worshiper is the least of your concerns, particularly in a country where now your and my supposed political friends are making Catholics and protestants out to be Taliban lite or at best quaint dark age relics if an ignorant past.
